Portrait of Ian and Graham
Ian & Graham are 12-year-old twins with the musical chops of bands twice their age. Raised in a San Francisco Bay Area home where Beck sits next to Brahms on the CD shelf, the duo started writing and playing original music at age 7, using a DJ beat box they got for Christmas. It wasn’t long before they took up guitar, bass, and keyboard. Trading lead and backup vocals with unusually mature voices that are unmistakably boys', they quickly developed a signature sound built around elements often missing in the music of other young artists: melody and harmony.

The duo combines pop hooks with classic rock guitar and all-ages lyrics, singing about dreams for the future, the simple joy of hanging out, a first crush. By age 10 they were performing a dozen original songs at songwriting competitions and community events, earning awards and accolades from industry judges and shaking up a renowned Bay Area battle of the bands, where they walked away with a coveted prize, generous press coverage, and credit for paving the way for future kid bands to audition. They followed up that victory by landing their own 30-minute feature on "American Songwriter," a Bay Area cable access TV show.

In early 2010 the duo placed in the top 10 of a national songwriting competition, earning a spot opening for Mick Fleetwood at a pre-Grammy event at the L.A. House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard. When they returned to northern California, a pro songwriting and production team invited them to collaborate in the studio, where they spent their summer writing and recording four new tunes, as well as filming several videos that showcase their unique look and sound.

The Cloud Ten EP features:

“Butterscotch Blonde,” a rocking tribute to their number-one girl . . . and their favorite guitar.

“The Next Text,” a modern twist on the wait for that fateful phone call: “The next text / Could be the one that tells me if you’re impressed / Show me a window to your world . . . The next text could be the answer I’ve been waiting for.”

“Cloud Ten,” the title track, in which lead vocalist Ian, surprised to find a girl has him floating higher than he ever thought he would, beckons her to “fly with me.”

“Lucky Guy,” with lead vocalist Graham trying good-luck rituals to get the girl . . . and lead guitarist Ian aiming to impress with a blazing solo.
