HE KEEPS IT JAFFE
Byron Horton, p/k/a Skypp (pronounced Skip), was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana some 20
plus years ago. The lessons of life combined with its struggles has most certainly had an impact on his
flow as an emcee with impressive lyrical skills.
An avid fan of r&b music, it is somewhat odd that he ended up being a rapper, but I guess one can say it
was a sign of the times as hip-hop music and its culture was the defining element of his generation in
He has been making rhymes since he was about 13 years of age. He would later develop a weekly
series called SKYPP SATURDAYS where he would flow over industry beats of known songs. It got a
little too good as some of the original creators complained and due to copyright issues, the series
He is preparing to release his fifth album in his young career, called JAFFE II: INSPIRED BY. Its
predecessor was last year’s JAFFE album a strong testament to things he had experienced and it was
dedicated to his best friend who was murdered. He fashioned the term ‘Jaffe’, which was his best
friend’s last name into meaning keeping it 100% and all the way real with someone. Prior to JAFFE, he
had the album HUMILITY, which charted as high as #29 on the indie album chart of iTunes. Prior to his
metamorphosis as completely clean lyricist he had 4 albums: WRITTEN & DIRECTED, SOPHISTICATED STREET MUSIC, and GREAT ANOTHER RAPPER 1 and 2.
His new album gets introduced by the single “Beneficial”, which has an accompanying music video.
JAFFE II: INSPIRED BY is a 17 track album that explores all the aspects of things going on in the mind
of this creative wunderkind. With production from Zero The Composer, Sincere Tha Truth. D. Hittz and
L.T., the songs run the gamut from inner city life to inspiration for the future. In many respects, JAFFE II: INSPIRED BY is a reality check that we all can relate to.
His previous single “Bottled Water” made noise nationally and internationally and resulted in him winning
the coveted Most Promising New Artist Award at last Fall’s West Coast Hip Hop Awards ceremony in
Portland, Oregon .
Already the young emcee has appeared on shows with: Babyface, Charlie Wilson, DMX, Mystikal,
Floetry, Toni Braxton, Yo Gotti , DJ Quik and Anthony Hamilton to name a few.
With JAFFE II: INSPIRED BY, Skypp is ready to take the rap game to a whole new level and we are all
lucky that he lets us in for the experience.
