"Really we just started driving up and down Texas." Up and down I-35 actually (Dallas, Waco, Austin then repeat). A year or so in, people started showing up, bringing their friends and singing back lyrics (loudly) eyes closed and sometimes with their hands in the air. "That's still surreal to us, and I think it will always seem surreal for the obvious reasons." 200 clubs and 50 college shows later (22 states & 100,000 miles in just 29 months on the tour van affectionately named “The Washington”) SS's music made its way across the pond. From Dallas, TX to the far corners of the world via vampires. Yup... vampires.
On November 4th, the CW’s TV show “The Vampire Diaries” used SS's song “I Was Wrong” off their full-length album “Just Another Ghost." This platform propelled their music to top 20 charts in Germany, Australia, France, Italy, Belgium, the USA, Israel and 26 other countries! Literally, overnight. "When we say literally, we mean the week prior on iTunes that song had sold 3 copies." The next week "I Was Wrong" sold 11,913 copies and helped them sell over 2000 additional records just on iTunes.
On December 6th lighting struck again when Warner Brothers Film asked to use a SS song "Everything Must Find Its Place" for the trailer in their newest movie "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” which stars Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock. "We have a few rules of thumb in this band: (1) Every chance you get to play a live show, you play your freaking heart out. (2) If Tom Hanks calls... you just say "yes sir" and you give him the song. Their are more rules, but we'll have to go into those another time."
"One time someone said this about us" ----> "Sleeperstar’s music seeks to inspire and to make the listener feel the pleading vocals, the “U2-meets-Third Eye Blind” guitar-work, and thoughtful arrangements of every song. Their music will surely tap at your heart until you let them in, and once they are in..."
