Will Carey moved to Baltimore in the fall of 2004 to study theatre and film at Towson University. During this time Will developed an interest in comedy and began performing stand up comedy at area open mic nights. He quickly made a name for himself in the Baltimore comedy scene winning the December 2007 and May 2008 New Talent Showcases at Magooby’s Joke House. Will also took first place at Towson University’s version of Last Comic Standing winning a slot opening for Carlos Alazraqui and Cedric Yarbrough from Comedy Central’s Reno 911. Will’s style of stand up is a synthesis of his years of theatrical training and the unique window through which he views the world. Drawing inspiration from his work in absurdist theatre and comedians like Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg, his material focuses on one- liners and concise, truthful observations about himself and the world around him. Placing greater emphasis on the quality of the written word rather than on improv and crowd work, Will’s performances provide a uniquely entertaining experience.
