She and her older sister are home schooled, which frees up a little more time for chasing her dream of being successful in music. Maci started playing fiddle at 9 years old, then picked up guitar at age 11, which led to her starting to write songs. From then on she’s loved singing and writing Country Music, and even added playing mandolin and bass to her repertoire of instruments.
Maci’s inspiration comes simply from the love she has for Country Music. She feels that songwriting is a way to express feelings in a magical way, and she is truly gifted that way. Her songs are not so much from her own experiences, but more about what others have experienced. She watches and listens closely to how people act and re-act to different life situations, then tries to find an interesting way to package her perception of their situation into a song. Her ability to play her instruments well enhances her ideas with beautiful chord progressions and melodies. She draws strength and inspiration from those who try to put her down and relies on her faith in God to handle anything life sends her way.
She loves sports, especially baseball and football and is also a wrestling fan. She loves to laugh and watches funny movies and comedy shows. She loves animals, especially dogs and has two Bichon Friese’s of her own. Her musical tastes lie mainly in the artists who sing Country, but she also listens to old Rock music, especially artists like The Beatles, Motlley Crue, Bryan Adams, and Elvis.
When you listen to the songs she writes and sings, you hear all her influences, which seem to eminate from a much older artist. But, the truth is…all this talent, artistry and yes, even maturity, come from the heart and soul of young lady who is only 17 years old. Her name is Maci Rivers and her music dream is coming true!
