Description
I was trying to write something more than a 3 chord country song and actually wrote the melody first. I "invented" a couple of chords that Vic Clay quickly discarded and inserted some that were actually on a chord chart. To add some variety to the album, this is more like country blues, and no I wasn't cheating!
Lyrics
There was a time she was only mine But I didn’t keep my vow On the sly, I’d cheat and lie Look who’s crying now Tell me how can it be everybody could see I was out of my mind I had the best of both worlds ‘Til she walked out of mine (Bridge) She would love me in the evenin’ And love me late at night Then wake me in the mornin’ right before daylight And hold me like I was never held before Now who’s that lucky guy with the gleam in his eye? Taking her to dinner tonight I had the best of both worlds ‘Til she walked out of mine (Turnaround) (Repeat Bridge) (Tag) I had the best of both worlds ‘Til she walked out of mine
