As haunting and striking as the sculpted inlet of the Bay of Fundy, Amanda's voice has begun to garner attention in the international independent music scene. Amanda is the first Canadian to win Artist of the Month on STEREOFAME.COM (November 2010), winning $1,000 USD and priceless exposure as a featured artist on their home page for an entire month. This authentic, multi-dimensional singer/songwriter has a sincerity rarely heard in today's folk/dream/acoustic content. Her thoughtful phrasing and subtle guitar playing cause one to take pause. Her unconventional melodies and intuitive vocals have been deemed "achingly gorgeous, organically chilling and soulful." Over the years, Amanda has been refining her hauntingly beautiful brand of folk, elevating sadness to triumph and desolation to celebration. In 2009, she met and began collaborating with Ryan Potter, a seasoned Ottawa musician and closet producer. Amanda's first solo album "Universe in a Soft Sell" is now available online for digital download through bandcamp.com. The official physical release date will be announced in December. Until that time, fans can pre-purchase ($10 CAD + Shipping) or reserve their copy by contacting Amanda directly via the following email address: amandacottreau@gmail.com. Be sure to include details regarding quantity, autographs, preferred payment method, and mailing address....if necessary. In January of 2010, Amanda partnered with Steve Perron, best known for his eclectic acoustic interpretations. Together they formed the acoustic band STAIRWELL LEO. You can catch this awesome duo every week at D’Arcy McGee’s in Bells Corners as they are the hosts of Acoustic Thursdays (6-9pm). STAIRWELL LEO delivers a mulit-decade repetoire of Classic Rock, Alternative & Folk covers blended seamlessly with their original acoustic creations. Ethereal songstress Amanda Cottreau and forefront guitarist Steve Perron create a fusion of raw/rugged acoustic alchemy. Amanda has played over 70 shows in venues with 40-240 capacity between Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal. She also offers her time and talents to a vast variety of charity events: AIDS Walkathon, Haiti Relief, MS Walkathon, TUPO Hope Floats Boat Cruise Fundraiser for Tanzania Children's Fund, Multi-Venue Fundraiser for Shoppers Weekend to End All Women's Cancers, World Vision and Cornerstone Woman's Shelter, to name a few. In addition, Amanda volunteers at the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre, providing music at the interdenominational services as well as select seasonal celebrations.
