(Philadelphia, PA) – This year promises to be an incredible one for Donielle Rodwell, as she prepares to release her debut album. The 25 year-old is one of the many talents hailing Philadelphia as her home. Graduating from the renowned High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Philadelphia; succeeding heavyweight entertainers such as Boyz II Men and Jazmine Sullivan, Donielle is on the road to becoming one of Inspirational Music’s biggest voices. Under the tutelage of Lee Jerkins of Rocksoul Productions, she is currently working on an EP, scheduled to release this year, with her debut album following. Her first single, A Thousand Pieces, produced award winning producer Lee Jerkins, is a lyrically reflective track alluding to her faith in God as the mender of all things broken. This song, like Donielle’s other records, does exactly what Gospel music should do—cause deep introspection and ultimate realization in the saving and redeeming power of Jesus Christ.
As one of Philadelphia’s known local talents, Donielle has already started to make a name for herself. Her vocal prowess can be heard on Holy Hip pioneer Da’ Truth’s latest project, The Whole Truth, as a guest vocalist on the very powerful track Freedom. As a worship leader at Bethel Deliverance Church- Northeast, Donielle is able to stay grounded while showcasing the awesome gift of leading and vocalizing. It was just about 8 years ago, when Donielle became a household name throughout the Philly Gospel Café scene. She has since become a sought after soloist and guest artist and can often be seen performing throughout the tri-state area.
With the release of her forthcoming projects, Donielle’s main goal is to offer hope and “show who God is and what He can do.” Of her message she says, “My message, really, is to get across the Gospel.” The testimony of her life’s struggles is a direct reflection of the passion behind her music. “Every song was written during a different time in my life, when I was going through different things.” It is clear that those things have not put a damper in her drive, nor have they put a damper in her faith. She is constantly moving forward and living out her musical dream, while keeping Christ at the forefront.
