I am blessed to have been personally acquainted with many of those gifted artists who have indelibly affected our culture and our lives. When you hear his music, G John Martin will put you in the mind of Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, George Benson and Maurice White all rolled into one. Trust me, I do not say this lightly. This artist is the real deal. He was literally born to do this and we all are better off for it. However, do not take my word for it. It is a CD project that reflects the divine gifts of this important artist as a phenomenal singer, songwriter, producer, instrumentalist and contemporary stylist of American popular music. When you hear him for the first time you will feel in your heart that you already know him, yet at the same time he will strike you as someone who is new and refreshing on the music scene. Both sentiments are true. While he is destined to make his mark on the industry with this hot new product, he is not new to the business. G John Martin, born in Detroit, Michigan, is without question one of America’s most talented vocalists. At age seven, he discovered the bass guitar and like divine intervention, the vision of his life’s destiny was born. A child prodigy by age twelve he began composing and producing songs of his own. He formed his first band, began teaching himself several other instruments, and pursued the development of his unique sound. Not only did he master the drums, guitar and bass, he realized his voice and his professional career began as a pre-teen. His many years of experience since that time have culminated in his most recent creation, “Black Ice”. The “Black Ice” project features so many potentially chart topping singles that it is hard to know where to start. Each tune stands alone as a master creation in and of itself.
