As a teenager growing up in Connecticut, singer/songwriter Heather Fay vowed that one day she would compile the world's most perfect mix tape. As a teenager growing up in Connecticut, singer/songwriter Heather Fay vowed that one day she would compile the world's most perfect mix tape. A mix tape that would act as the quintessential soundtrack to her life. Try as she might the mix was never right - it seemed as if a song was always missing. One day, after many failed attempts, Heather Fay came eye to eye with the Alvarez guitar sitting in the corner of her Boston University apartment. She had bought it on a whim (mostly because it looked cool), but, now she knew it was time to pick it up and start writing those missing songs. And so, her song writing journey began. She wrote songs about her highs and lows over the years. Years as a film major in college....her move out West to Los Angeles where she worked for years at Warner Bros....and her frustration at never getting her big break as a film Director. She wrote songs about her loves, losses and hopes....finding the man of her dreams....the birth of her daughter....and the big move back home to Connecticut. Not long after the birth of her daughter, Heather decided to temporarily abandon her dreams of making that perfect mix tape. Instead, she decided take some of the songs she had written and create the first installment of her life's soundtrack. These compiled songs became her debut album "Scrape Knee'd Girl" - a cozy, warm and groovy collection of songs she recorded onto analog tape at a little recording studio in the sleepy woods of the Connecticut countryside. Not fitting into an either/or category, Heather has opted to coin her genre Alt/Retro. "Scrape Knee'd Girl" is a little bit alternative and a little bit retro....an album that could have sat comfortably on the shelf between Carly Simon and Carole King....yet still has a fresh modern sound that is full of new discoveries. Currently, Heather Fay is busy at work writing her next installment of songs and still one day hopes to tackle that perfect mix tape....
