Growing up JB acknowledged the fact that he was unpolished and wanted to better himself so in 1997, he up-rooted from his home in Aberdeen, NC and journeyed off to California where he would begin to work with real producers and learn necessary techniques to good recordings. In 1998, after meeting up with Nine Lives Management and it’s owners, Tse and Michelle Williams, JB relocated to New York where he and his group Best Man landed a deal with Epic Records, the place called home to platinum and multi-platinum artist such as Three Little Women (3LW), B2K, Ruff Ends, Ginuwine, Joe, Glenn Lewis and Michael Jackson to name a few. Over the years JB has had the opportunity to appear on and acquire production credits for writing, arranging and producing tracks on numerous works such as the Barbershop Shop Soundtrack, Keith Murray’s He’s Keith Murray Album, 3LW's self-entitled debut album, and Epic Records ? A Season Of Soul And Sounds. He has received platinum and gold plaques and other honors for his accomplishments. JB has appeared in a number of videos next to industry leading performers. His unorthodox talents have placed him on some of the country’s leading concert hall stages, while his days fronting for Best Man landed him gigs in every bar, club, and university imaginable. JB has now set out to establish himself as a solo artist. He has performed on many stages and on the same bill with artist such as Jagged Edge, Glenn Lewis, Jill Scott, Destiny's Child, Nappy Roots, Ray-J, Ne-Yo and many others throughout the US, from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the B. B. King House of Blues in Manhattan to the twice sold out Madison Square Garden. JB is a true artist, singer, songwriter, producer and musician who takes pride in playing instruments, writing his own material and perfecting his wild-and-crazy vocal arrangements. In the song, “I’ve got my music,” from Marvin Gaye’s 1989 double-album, Midnight Love and the Sexual Healing Sessions, Marvin sings,”…music is the soul of a man.” With those words he initiated the sequence of JB’s life blueprint.
