Jenn Beaupre Bio On November 19th, 1982 in Edmonton Alberta, Jenn Beaupre let out her first note that left even the seasoned birthing team in awe. “That’s quite a set of lungs!”, her Mom was told again and again at the hospital that day. From there, her childhood was set in small town Alberta (Canada); her teen years spent in a community with a medium security federal penitentiary on its outskirts. Small town living was often a tough go for the quirky extrovert whose first word was music. With much urging and support from her family, Jenn finally auditioned for an opera coach, Shelly Fullerton (of the Calgary Opera) at age 14 and was readily accepted into the world of music. A quick study, Shelly encouraged her to pursue opera after high school graduation but Jenn wanted to try her hand at songwriting and taught herself piano. Sixteen songs later, at age 16, My Life so Far was born- her first crack at a recording. Although the “demo” was a rudimentary recording done in a converted church basement studio- just her on piano and vocals- Jenn sold over 6000 copies of the disc- all burned on her family’s home computer by her father! Jenn has won many awards including Calgary Stampede Youth Talent Showdown’s most promising artist, overall winner and first runner up at the national level. Eventually, Jenn was noticed by Mark Wyatt of Canadian Event Perspectives magazine. Many corporate events under her belt now and a year of songwriting in Quebec, Jenn tried her hand at Canadian Idol and excelled through to the night right before the top 10 was chosen. The judges praised her accurate vocals and quirky style but worried Canada’s youth would not understand her. Jenn was invited back by the judges for the Wildcard show as well as other events promoting Idol. Also, deemed well spoken and engaging, she was hired for various speaking engagements addressing youth’s issues, like bullying, self-confidence and body image. After Idol, Jenn continued to develop her witty stage personality while songwriting and performing as much as possible. With the help of Mr David Kean, Jenn finished her newest album, Lullabies for Grown-ups in late 2007. Currently, she is enjoying very much playing beautiful pianos on beautiful theatre stages. Jenn just opened for the Moscow Ballet on their 2009 Canadian Tour in November. This was a very exciting and unique opportunity!
