"Mexico City" embraces the singers’ 2 years of living abroad in Mexico City, and gives the listener a heart-felt picture of the time the singer spent in the city. After suffering a year-long writers’ block due to the passing of Cohn’s long-time travelling companion and pet, Tosca, Jill took a leap of faith and followed a life-long dream of living abroad for the express purpose of writing music. Cohn arrived in Mexico City in late 2005 in hopes of finding new inspiration and meaning to her life and to her song. The moment she set her hands on the lovely Kimball piano in the middle of Colonia Condessa, in the heart of the most artistic and beautiful part of Mexico City, her music began to play once again. For this prolific Female Songwriter and the songs that came to her one by one, night after night, to now be represented in the artist’s most beautiful and cohesive release to date, is rare and an exceptional accomplishment for any artist, let alone a self-made woman, who has 10 years of touring under her belt, numerous concert appearances, as well as having her songs self-placed in radio, film and Television.
