About Johnny Oneal
Music is the main thing I do in my life. I've been a salesman, a painter, a deckhand, a construction guy, a night watchman and lots of others too but the music is the thing I've done consistantly all my life. My mom played guitar and left her guitar behind when she passed away. It was only natureal to play with it, and I did. After all my work experiences I finally decided to play full-time about 10 years ago. I'm still doing it so it must have been a good decision.
Songwriting is the one thing I'm most proud of other than love and family in my life. I had the first song down when I was 11 years old and believe it or not I still do it on stage once in while just for laughs. No, it's still not a bad song for a little kid to write.
All I have ever wanted to do is make music that would be appreciated by the public and my peers. It's almost a pain I feel when I see someone on a big stage playing their heart out for the audience. It's the only thing I need more than love and oxygen.
I do play every week in my area and have been voted "best" by the newspaper readers and I've had the opportunity to do lots of things with my music including a trip to Cannes France to play at MIDEM. I've represented my state at Epcot in Florida at the international wine and food festival. I've done lots of opening act shows for great national performers like J.J. Cale, Micheal Murphy, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, David Allen Coe, and Percy Sledge.
All that aside, my goal is to be the musician on stage playing for the audience and writing the songs that touch their lives and hearts. All I need is more of that one thing!
