2010 106&Park R&B All-Star CHAMPION LOU WRITER Soulful R&B artist Lou Writer lives by the famous words of Thomas Jefferson: I’m a great believer in luck, and I find that the harder I work, the more I have it. From performing at his elementary school graduation to opening for major artists, Lou has been consciously aligning himself with opportunities to have his talent heard by the masses. Lou Writer was born and raised in a two parent home in Jackson, MS. His father a hotel manager and his mother a social worker, Lou looked to each of them as his role models for integrity, dedication, and self-discipline. Little did he know that he was witnessing what would very soon become the foundation of his success. When asked how long he’s felt that the spotlight was his home, Lou quickly quips, “since I was a kid I’ve known I wanted to be a star.” That’s why he was selected to sing at his high school graduation and again when he graduated middle school. From young, Lou radiated with star power. Many artists patiently wait to catch their first big break. Lou opted instead to take the helm of his musical career and chase down his destiny. While attending Callaway High School in Jackson MS, he focused on polishing up his vocal and choreography skills in preparation for the main stage. He competed in local talent shows and managed to take the winning title every time. Slowly but surely, he became a regular name among the few true hustlers in the Jackson, MS entertainment circuit. Soon after, Lou anxiously auditioned for Lyfe Jennings and was called back the following day to sing back-up. He traveled cross-country, performing on the Jimmy Kimmel Show and during the Sundance Film Festival, among other venues. He also joined Lyfe on tour in the Carribbean before he decided to take the amazing mentorship he received from Lyfe and continue towards the fulfillment of his dreams. Still dedicated to making a way for himself as a unique personality in an already saturated industry, Lou began penning original songs across the gamut of the R&B genre. By producing harmonious tracks that embodied his complex but relatable experiences, he became a crossover success in the underground hip hop, R&B, and pop genres. With his sultry first hit “More and More,” which is a personal story he wrote while fighting to show his commitment to a relationship that wasn’t meant to be, Lou earned the respect of collegiate men and women all across the Jackson area who could hear the rawness of his love through his lyrics. Soon after, he introduced “Role Play,” a sexy song which painted a scene of love-making with no boundaries. With the radio-success of “Role Play,” he linked up with up-and-coming song-writer Candice Simms to create the sequel, “Aftermath,” which was and still is an instant success with whomever hears the depiction of calm after a storm of passion. Along the way, Lou wrote “Happy Hour Lovin’” among other R&B titles across the spectrum of love, romance, and happiness. Now a regularly featured act in Jackson, MS at concerts, collegiate events, and night clubs, he is gearing up to take his talent mainstream. Lou Writer is currently promoting his music and preparing for a small college tour. In March of 2010, he began negotiations for a major label deal.
