Once upon a time there were two girls that went to the same high school. Samantha Derus(guitar/vocals) and Ali Thompson(vocals/guitar). Both girls were extremely talented. Though they were friends they did not work together musically except in choir. After a few strange events Ali and Samantha joined forces on December 20th and miraculously pulled off a two hour performance at their local coffee shop. They performed a few covers such as: "Come On Get Higher"- Matt Nathenson "Hanging By a Moment"- Life House "Black Balloon"-The Goo Goo Dolls "Whatever You Like"-T.I. After that Samantha and Ali decided to continue working together. They would soon perform again January 23rd at the same coffee shop. Ali and Samantha were always doing covers and working on their own music. In February Samantha sketched out lyrics to their new song "It's Not You It's Me". With Ali's wondrous help they came up with a song launching them into their school's talent show. A dream both girls had shared upon entering high school. Soon after they decided on the name My Dear Mercy given to them by a close friend. The next year being their senior year My Dear Mercy decided to go all out and define their sound. In their arduous search for talented musicians My Dear Mercy encountered fellow members of their choir, Chelsea Walden. With Chelsea on percussion/vocals their sound took a change for the best. That year they were able to perform their new song "Oklahoma Doesn't Feel Like Home" at their school talent show. And finished out the year with many performances at local venues. They record using just a lap top, but are working on getting equipment. My Dear Mercy takes much pride in their ability to do 3 part harmony together. My Dear Mercy is constantly striving for a better unique sound. Take a listen and let us know what you think!
