My Music is who I am.....
Seryiouz was born on Chicago's Southside before his family relocated to nearby Harvey, Illinois for a better life. The reason for the move was because of the violence and gangs in Chicago, that would eventually land his older brother in jail. However, over time crime would also trickle down to Harvey, which to date is known as the murder captital of "Southland".
Growing up, Seryiouz was a bit of a troublemaker himself, with constant suspensions from school for fighting. He too would later run with the neighborhood gang. It wasn't until his parents enrolled him in the school's band that his life would take a different turn. Seryiouz excelled as a trumpet player and began to focus on things other than being a badass. Seryiouz love for music had given him a broader sense of culture, as he would find a world much bigger than he once thought.
Always the wordsmith, Seryiouz was honored by the late great Gwendolyn Brooks for a poem he had written called the "Neighborhood Jungle," in which he depicts life in the hood from the eyes of a young boy.
As a trumpet player Jazz was his first love, but he began cheating on her with a new lady "Hip-Hop".
Seryiouz was always known by many for his quick wit, and ability to freestyle at the drop of the hat. Seryiouz would do this for fun, but from the love and attention he would receive, and the love he had for Rap, he decided to make a career of it.
Currently, Seryiouz has just released his second album called "Electric Liquid," under Choadic Records. He was discovered by its' co-founder Scott Marshall, who fell in love with Seryiouz debut "Rise from the Wreckage," a 10 track concept album.
Seryiouz has created much buzz locally and has performed in numerous shows in the Chicagoland area.
Seryiouz has also had music featured in MTV's season premiere of The Real World in Sydney, Austrailia in 2007.
Stay on the lookout for this rising star, for this is only the beginning....
