Good Time Camper draws from an eclectic background of musical tastes to form a unique style of American rock music. Soaring vocal melodies combining with strong blues influenced string work create a musical texture that can be enjoyed by a wide range of listeners. Poppy at one moment, down and dirty rock the next, Good Time Camper conveys a positive feel through storytelling lyrics reminiscent of folk singers of the past. The band is a solid live draw as well, sharing the stage with numerous South Wisconsin bands including Freshwater Collins, Mighty Short Bus, Run Side Down, Bowser, Baghdad Scuba Review, The Hue, Braided Funk, Cosmic Railroad, and the Selfish Gene to name a few. Titled “Back to Good,” after the song of the same name, Good Time Camper’s breakout debut exhibits the hard work all four band members put into their music. The EP, in its four songs, conveys the band’s desire to get back to the important basics of life through appreciation of their home city, friends, and taking the bad parts in stride. Simplistic song structures act as a platform for some truly amazing vocal work, accompanied perfectly by soulful guitar lines, deep intense bass work, and driving drumbeats. This EP was meant to be listened to on a warm sunny day, when all the cares of the world seem to be background to the cool sounds of Good Time Camper. GTC was first formed by Patrick Sweeney and Adam Ginsberg in the fall of 2005, before discovering bassist Sean Ellis and drummer Jamie Zander in early 2007. The four quickly gelled musically and were able to quickly get down to work writing and arranging songs. The band wasted no time getting themselves into Madison’s premier multimedia recording studio, Elabs, tracking with veteran producing engineer Perry Blanchard. The future of Good Time Camper is looking bright, with interest in their live performance as well as their new EP growing with each passing day. Get Back to Feeling Good.
