His energy on stage is contagious, and his guitar playing virtuosic, dazzling audiences with intricate and imaginative guitar licks. Slade will be a sophomore at University of Southern California in the fall. Brenden Mayer: Like Slade, Brenden also grew up in a musical household. His father, Peter Mayer, plays with Jimmy Buffett as well on the guitar. Brenden’s voice combines vitality with clarity, and his guitar playing is an excellent compliment to his skills as a vocalist. After taking a year off, he will be starting college this fall at Boston University. Nick Carter: The Turf’s beat-master is not your typical indistinct drummer. His beats are tight, yet complex, and serve as the foundation to the band’s danceable style. Nick will be returning to Brown University as a sophomore this fall. Nigel Hood: Nick “Nigel” Hood makes bass playing an art with his natural ability to create The Turf feel on every song. Though he may appear reserved, Nige’s whit and ability to think creatively is a major factor in the band’s character. Nige will continue studying at Boston University this fall as a sophomore.
