A lover of storytelling and magic is the best way to describe songstress and visual artist Tiff Randol. From New York to Los Angeles her musical endeavors and story can only be described as a rollercoaster of extremes, from loss to ecstasy, from insanity to stillness, from heartache to unconditional love. Dubbed “soulful” by Limewire and “breathtaking... comparisons to Kate Bush and the sun-drenched harmonies of Lennon and McCartney” by Matt Allen of Mojo Magazine, Randol is someone who wears her heart on her sleeve and will try anything once. She says "what excites me in anything I do is pushing limits and opening people up to new ways of experiencing life". To date her music has been heard on numerous TV shows, including People’s Choice Awards, MTV, VH1, Bravo, Comedy Central and a recent Barnes & Noble Commercial. She has also performed live on Fox Good Day NY, Fearless Music, and premiered her "Shame's A Bitter Game" video on the LOGO Channel. Many would describe her as fiercely independent and her track record backs it up, but in recent months Randol sings a different tune in the literal and metaphorical sense. In fall of 2009 a company approached her to make a record and Randol was led into the hands of Grammy Award winning producer/writers Jim Marr and Wendy Page who she affectionately calls "musical soulmates". While Marr/Page are best known for their success with major pop artists like Hillary Duff, their background and mutual love for artists like Kate Bush, David Bowie, and The Cocteau Twins found the threesome within minutes swooning over their favorite records, talking about past lives and scarfing chocolate. "Jim and Wendy understood my vision from the start musically and spiritually. I wanted to express my experience of learning to love myself and life and how healing and magic has played a role in that" says Randol. They began a new album entitled QUEEN, a story about a self-destructive girl who hits bottom and then wakes to find herself on a journey to heal karma from past lifetimes, falling in love with herself and becoming a queen. "This record for me is really about finding feminine/masculine balance and all these different aspects of being a woman", demonstrated in song titles like "Temptress", "Not Your Mother", and "Red & Black". In March 2010 while making the record, Randol fell while rope swinging in Griffith Park and after a metal elbow replacement, was unable to walk or take care of herself for months. Not being able to move made the illusion of having control over anything in life painfully obvious and soon she realized there was nothing to do but surrender. "Once I let go of my need to control the situation everything got quiet and the most beautiful people stepped into my life", one of them being the most recent addition to The Kingdom, Mickey Caputo on bass, guitar, and keys, alongside drummer Ryan Brown. Now that Randol is on the mend, they are finishing up bits and pieces of QUEEN and while a release date is pending, Tiff Randol & The Kingdom will be performing it live with magic and pixie dust on both coasts and wherever else the wind takes them.
