WORLDFAST We will let you describe our band! Here is a review of our CD "RUINATION" by Rough Edge Magazine... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Ruination" (Self-produced; 2007) Reviewed by R. Scott Bolton Worldfast's "Ruination" is one of those nice surprises that occasionally cross a reviewer's desk. By that, I mean that here is a band I've never heard of and this is a self-produced CD and you can't help but think, "Well, really, how good this be?" And then you play the CD and every track kicks you so solidly in the ass that you're pissing blood before it's all over. Okay, listening to "Ruination" is a lot more pleasant than pissing blood, but you get the point, right? This thirteen track CD is solid from beginning to end with driving hard rock that brings to mind bands like Tool and Godsmack, only with a rougher, self-produced edge and the musical honesty that comes with it. The guitars are awesome throughout, especially on "Snake in the Grass," "Price to Pay," "Cauterize" and "Cataclysm." And I'm talking riffs and leads, with the leads being fiery hot and yet supporting the song, rather than overwhelming it. The songwriting is strong as well, generating not only intelligent lyrics but big fat hooks, too. The band, as a unit, is tight and heavy. And vocalist Mike Mayberry sounds like a hearty cross between Disturbed's David Draiman and Godsmack's Sully Erna. Worldfast's "Ruination" is an impressive CD that has only gotten better with each play. I look forward to hearing more from this band in the future. Worldfast: Mike Mayberry - vocals; Pat Carmichael - guitars; James Roy - bass; Johnny Q - drums. For more information, check out http://www.myspace.com/worldfast.
