The Chris Evans Band started in June of 2008. Evans had just broken up with his former band, Bright City Lights, in light of starting something new for himself in becoming a solo artist. At this time, Chris began co-writing music for his solo career with Nicole Thibodeau which included his first demo; I Do, Three Strikes, and Shades of Gray. The demo was recorded in February 2009. Once the demo had been recorded, his brother, Ben Evans, had told Chris he liked the songs and became the drummer in early March 2009. One of Chris' good friends from highschool, also former bassist of bright city lights, Jake Lawless, had also enjoyed the demo and in turn became the bassist for Chris that same month. The trio then decided that they would call themselves, "The Chris Evans Band".The three piece began to play different venues all over the Ottawa area. Come July 2009, the boys took a trip down to the music city of Nashville, Tennessee under the management of Evans' co-writer Thibodeau. The Band played at many different locations in Nashville including in front of the Grand Ole Opry, and Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee. Upon their arrival, Chris had gone into the studio, The Sound Office, to lay down a guitar track for a song he had co-writtin with Nicole for artist Madi-lynn. Later that day, the trio were playing an open mic show at a Chick-Fil-A fast food restaurant. After playing, they were approached by producer, Dale Guthery, who brought the boys back to his recording studio on Music Row. The band began recording multiple different rough tracks of songs they had written together. After returning from their trip, the boys played more gigs around Ottawa with hopes in building a bigger fanbase. Come Deccember 2009, Ben Evans told the band that he didn't feel the band was going the direction he had wanted and resigned as the drummer at the end of the month. Though sadenned with Ben's departure, the band needed a new drummer. They immediately turned to a close friend, Thomas Hunt, who joined the band with little hesitation. The new addition took little time getting use to as the three boys would normally get together for jam sessions throughout their highschool years. The trio began to write more and more over the next three and a half months in order to build their original repretoire. In the mean time, Chris had taken two more trips to Nashville to discuss furthering their career with Dale Guthery. Coming back from his second trip, he informed the band that Dale wanted the three of them to move down to Nashville for as long as they could in hopes of recording a six song e.p. through a hand shake deal. After thorough discussion, the band decided they would move down May 20th, 2010 and return in early November the same year. The three have now recorded 6 songs that will be released upon completing their new album "Believing In Me", sometime during 2011.
