G2 (Going Green) BIO G2 is a burgeoning hip hop group out of Ohio with witty lyrics and a renaissance yet new age vibe. The group is composed of Milwaukee native A. Majors (aka ITSPHYRE) and Youngstown native D. Coleman (aka JEROUX) both repping the Midwest to the fullest. Phyre began rhyming by freestyling on the playground as kid, he just did it as a hobby until he was in college and a friend past on a mixtape he made to DJ Jack da Rippa. Once Phyre linked with Rippa he was featured on countless mixtapes and on MTV, which included a commercial that aired featuring his former group “The FiX”. Next up we have JEROUX who began experimenting with various music genres and took a real interest in hip hop. He began crafting his talent on the streets of Youngstown, where he also developed a talent for production and beat making. Phyre and Jeroux linked through mutual friends and decided to combine their talent and passion of hip hop to form G2. Formed in 2010 G2 decided they didn’t want to make the same type of rap you hear nowadays so they decided to experiment with some sampling and recycle what was good about the old and make it new so we are Going Green! Phyre brings his clever word play and laid back style reminiscent of Jay-Z and Snoop, while Jeroux brings his witty rhyme scheme and animated style similar to Andre 3000. G2’s debut album slated for a spring release is already getting buzz with the first single “Past Tense” which is currently being played on Cleveland’s 89.3 and Z107.9. The video for the single has garnered national attention and led to G2 being asked to join the Island/Def Jam“Dust Addicts Tour”.
