Keingz Ransom "KR"
There is something to be said about the R&B quartet, Keingz Ransom "KR", especially when their harmonious sound
adds meaning to their profound moniker. Their distinct harmony, vocal ability, and "throwback R&B" verbalizations, recalls the era of musical muses: Silk, H-Town, Jodeci, Boyz II Men and Jagged Edge. Keingz Ransom comprised of Rodney "Tinman" Miller, ; Cedric "Fontaine" Hughes, ; Kewaithian "Kew" Freeman,; and Broderick "Brick" Smith, came together in 2001 in Dallas, Texas. Rodney and Broderick came up with
the group's name. "It's indicative of the value of our music," says Rodney. The essence of soulful groove beats
captures the raw emotions of love, lust, broken hearts and hope. Their vocal skills are showcased when they
sing a cappella, highlighting their sultry-rich range.
Keeping writing duties and production within the group, Keingz Ransom will always stand lyrics and beats above others breaking into the industry. Simply put, Keingz Ransom proves to be the "king" of the artistic process.
The talented quartet develops their skills by performing in several talent shows, clubs and sporting events throughout North Texas. If there was an audience to listen, KR was there. In 2004, Keingz Ransom won a singing contest sponsored by KKDA 1 04.5FM, the no. 1 urban radio station in Dallas, in addition, have recorded a vocal morning spot that is in rotation between 7 a.m. and 1 0 a.m. weekly. They have repeat performances at The University of Texas at Arlington, Alpha Phi Alpha raternity, Inc. "AlphaPlex Step Show", the largest step show in North Texas, the nationally-televised State Fair Classic Game between Prairie View A&M University and Grambling State University, where they performed the National Anthem in front of more than 55,000 spectators and television audience. In addition, Keingz Ransom performed for military troops and their families at Fort Hood near Waco, Texas.
