Portrait of breakfree74
Songwriter/Recording Artist from New Zealand - Richard Anderson.

Thanks to all of you who have written in on this site, the warm welcomes have been most appreciated, as has the talent of all our new friends out there, keep doing what ya do and love it personally and wholeheartedly for what it is...a very powerful force to be reckoned with. I hope to work with some of you soon, and am always open to collaborating.

Now a little about who I am and what I've been up to...

I have worked on several recording projects as a singer and songwriter/lyricist (and professional tambourine wrecker - but that's a whole story in itself LOL), aside from that I am also involved with the running of our label - Polar Music New Zealand.

In 2009 we have released a variety of projects we've been working on, including the GONE WILD 2-CD follow-up album "GONE WILD II".

Rob Smith, Hayley Oliver and myself have also collaborated on a country/rock/pop album called "Something To Remember" that has been a real pleasure to work on.

Rob Smith released his 3rd solo album "Never A Dull Moment" which was once again a pleasure to be involved with.

Rob Smith & Nils-Ole Finbak (with some help from myself) released the "Atmospjere's" CD which is chock full of emotive tracks. We enjoyed the experience so much that we are currently looking towards "Atmosphere's II" in 2011.

Currently in the works is the debut The Feckers album, essentially it as an album of songs co-written by Chris Szkup and myself, with contributions from some of our friends and family, and also included are a bit of a hit-list of people we have always wanted to work with - the songs are turning out to be pretty amazing with some truely wonderful contributions from around the globe. We're looking at a 2011 release for this project.

In the past I have had the good fortune of working with some amazing songwriters/recording artists/performers/bands including the following (in no particular order as I still dig them all and their work):

Rob Smith, Quadraphonic, Carol Smith, Nils-Ole Finbak, Chris Szkup, Roy Bratbakken, Dennis Leeflang, MC Hizzy, Robin Wellaway, Hayley Oliver, Svenni Bjorgvins, Lynn Carey Saylor, Houston Wells, Johnnie Zwaan, Kween, Annan, James Stonehouse, Stonefree, Scott Rose, Rick Bone, Gem Watson, Eric Stuller, David Austin, The Hi-Way Blues Band, Amy Caldwell, Grand Jury, Alex Lorias, Pat Valley, Joakim Finbak Pedersen, Catherine Smith, Laura Smith, Lexie Green, Innerface, Don Buck, Keeper, Melanie Fudge, Luigi Yamagata, 003, The Phil-In's, Phil Smith, Shay Smith, Josh Dodd, Kaloha Amor, Leon "The Madman" Schouten, Lance Moule.

...thank you beautiful people! (and some not so beautiful LOL)

...if there's anyone that I have forgotten then I send my most humble apologies.

Pleasingly my niece Kayla has started taking singing lessons in the last few months, and to my surprise she is a natural in front of a crowd and I think (without any bias of course) that she has a pretty good with that in mind I will be spending some time working on some songs with her of various genres over the next few years while she discovers who she is as a singer.

Musically speaking I am first and foremost a rocker, but LOVE the blues and also a bit of gospel (as singing should come from the heart and have emotion, this is always good place to start), in recent years however I have embraced what country pop/rock has to offer and even dabbled in a bit of writing of this genre, which for me was a bit of a challenge but one that I relished and look forward to working with other artists into this genre.

The people I work with tend to be people that I am on good terms with - friends, music means that much to me that I wouldn't share that experience of creation with someone that I couldn't fully trust or believe in their talents - it's definitely a personal thing. The power of creation is what drives me, and nothing will change that. It's all about the music :-)

My musical heroes are Freddie Mercury, Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, Brian May, Gary Cherone, Gary Moore and Phil Lynott.

As time (and my schedule) allows I am quite content to come on here and check out what other people have to offer in the way of their talents - it has been a refreshing experience in fact so far and I've even heard some things here I wouldn't necessarily listen to myself but have kept an open mind and always try to find the positives in anyone elses art - afterall it can often be a very personal reflection of the artist/s involved.

Anywhoo, don't be a stranger and feel free to drop by and say gidday, and if you've heard our band (or any of the artists I've worked with) then let us know what you think, the support is always appreciated.

If anyone wishes to purchase any of the Polar Music NZ releases then please by all means don't hesitate to drop me a line, offers of collaboration will also be looked at very seriously.
