Portrait of Tony J09
For almost a decade, Tony Jacobs has proven that he is more than just a former intern at Music World Entertainment (home of Destiny’s Child). Working under the music mogul Mathew Knowles provided him with the training that he needed to fuel the fire that was burning beneath his soul to spawn the music that was in his blood. The multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer was born within the ashes of hard work and willpower. Tony Jacobs developed a keen sense of his destiny, by working on numerous tours, assisting in the development of radio interviews, and the execution marketing campaigns for artists on the label such as Beyonce, Solange, and many others. With this form of training forced a transformation to assist in the birth of TONY J, a man of rhythm and beats.

What distinguishes Tony J, from the newest R&B star to rise from Houston, TX is his lyrical consistency and creativity. His first single, “U Need a Man”, is every woman’s dream anthem, his second single “Can I Take U Home” caters to the edgy and sexy audience, and the club banger “25 Candles” with Trae Tha Truth only produced a new lyrical cleverness that the music industry so desperately needs. You can’t go into a club, get into a car, or walk down the block without hearing one of these hit singles. His music not only represents Houston in its proper structure, but presents a new original method of southern swagger to the world. Focused, yet diverse in his talents, Tony J maintains and survives in this industry by pushing boundaries of tradition, and seeing how far it will go.

Growing up in Houston, where rappers have sowed a seed within the entertainment industry rhyming about hustling, living in the ghetto, and the danger in the streets of Houston. Tony J’s accomplishments as a business man and as an R&B artist’s shows how it takes talent to make the struggle to succeed seems effortless; as he precisely puts together different songs to make a creation of rhymes and hooks that rule the clubs and the streets. Tony first gained exposure as a producer in the Houston entertainment scene in 2003 when the Director of A&R at Music World Entertainment, Huy Nguyen gave him a challenge to create a Latin remix to “Baby Boy”, Beyonce’s second single off of her debut solo album “Dangerously In Love”. The remix became so popular locally; it gained air-play on Houston’s Latin Hip Hop radio station 93.3 FM, formerly 104.9FM. As a song writer, he has co-written with prominent singer/songwriter Eddie Kain, “Moments in Love with a Thug”, off the “Sex in the City” album.

His highly anticipated debut album, “Love Lessons 101” is an essential theme resulting from his life experiences. Which has taught him the realities of life and yet being able to move on and to accept what life and love has to offer. With his devotion to “true” music attached with the growth he has experienced over the years, Tony J knows that his time is now! He’s young, aggressive, and hungry. With this type of passion and obsession in his music, he is sure to keep his fans addicted and impatient for more. With a combination of talent and drive, it’s only a matter of time before Tony J will be dominating speakers around the world. Taking risks, pushing the limits, and challenging music to another dimension, is what has earned him the title as a “Bad Boy” in this industry. Fearless to failure, a warrior with lyrics, measures a man of strength. A young master of Rhythm & Beats!!!
