Mayday Mother is an innovative, high energy rock band with a fresh sound and a knack for writing memorable, groove-based material, as their first, self-titled EP clearly demonstrates. With 15 year old Kelsey Aho at the helm, belting out timely lyrics in a crystal, soaring voice, Kory Hawes and Dustin Campbell, both 18, locking up the bottom on bass and drums respectively, and Steve Costello, also 18, tying it all together with heavy rhythm tracks and blistering leads on guitar, Mayday Mother never fails to impress. Under previous names (Stray Bullet and Shop Naked) they’ve opened for major acts, including Sloan, Kim Mitchell, Colin James and most recently, The Trews, and have always left their audiences shouting for more. All 4 of these talented young musicians have committed themselves to the pursuit of music as a career, and their work ethic is second to none. Failure is not in their vocabulary. To see Mayday Mother live is to witness a significant part of music’s as yet unwritten history. Mayday Mother rocks!
