Portrait of pillowface
Pillowface

Pillowface has been making waves throughout New York’s Hudson Valley and Capitol Region since the summer of 2000. Formed from the ashes of local band Two Ton Shoes by drummer Ronni Gambino and guitarist Steve Ascarino, the group is completed by former Slipfist bassist Tom Rimington and vocalist Bobby Weiss, formerly of the band Pajamazon. This powerful quartet offers intense, melodic hard rock delivered with high-energy performances, passionate vocals, rib-cracking guitar and a lock-tight rhythm section.

In early 2003 Pillowface independently released a 15-song CD entitled “Disorders of Hearing” and through constant live appearances to support the album, gathered legions of fans that faithfully attend every show. Then with the addition of new singer Bobby Weiss, son of former Songwriter’s Guild of America President and Songwriter’s Hall of Fame inductee George David Weiss whose pop standards include “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”, “What a Wonderful World” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, the band emerged from a short hiatus at the beginning of 2004 with fresh material and began performing it to extremely enthusiastic response from Pillowface fans old and new. They have performed with national acts Powerman 5000, Breaking Benjamin, Saliva, Eve 6, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, Sponge, Socialburn, White Light Motorcade, Y&T and Joey Belladonna among others, as well as headlining their own shows at a variety of venues.

In January 2006, the band completed work on a new full length album entitled “Trust” that was recorded at Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY with producer Bill Eisele and engineers Chris Bittner and Michael Birnbaum (Chris and Michael produced major label artist Coheed & Cambria among others). The CD boasts 11 songs and as one reviewer states, “They are one of the best unsigned bands I have heard in years. Not one bad song on this CD”. It is available online at cdbaby.com, for download at itunes.com, and at all live performances. It is currently being shopped by the band’s management for major label distribution. In addition to a new record, Pillowface are going to be featured in a documentary that’s currently in production called “Back to the Garden: Woodstock, a band and a Journey”. It is being produced by Houseblend Productions and info on the film can be found at houseblendproductions.com.

Pillowface’s growing popularity is evidenced by the ever-increasing attendance of their live performances and hits to their web pages, and the in-person and online sales of their music and merchandise prove that the band is well on their way to surpassing their status as upstate New York’s best band and becoming the powerful and successful national act they are destined to be. Check them out online at pillowface.com and myspace.com/pillowfacerocks. Samples from the album can also be heard at myspace and itunes. Contact them directly via email at pillowface@pajamazon.com
