Portrait of Ruby Roses

Ruby Roses is a six-piece, indie rock band with a pop mentality. The northern New Jersey-based group practices and records in a home studio around the corner from the middle school where five of them met. The band is comprised of Evan Hooker (Vocals, Guitar), Andrew Giordano (Keys), Aaron Mazie (Guitar, Vocals), Jon Bruno (Guitar), Matt Marrs (Bass) and Brian Carlucci (Drums).

In addition to drawing faithful crowds in their home state at venues like The Crossroads and Union County’s annual MusicFest, Ruby Roses has also performed at several acclaimed New York City clubs, including The National Underground, The Knitting Factory and The Parkside Lounge. Their music has been praised in blog features such as The Side Street of Life and Rocksposure.com. In 2009, their track “Good Company” became the first place winner for the month of November in the indie rock category of Ourstage—MTV’s online music competition—beating out nationwide artist submissions through unbiased voting.

Since its formation in early 2008, the band has undergone stylistic, name, and even member changes. A true testament to the modern DIY process, their releases include two homemade EPs, which have sparked comparisons to some of their strongest influences like The Kooks, The Strokes, The Beatles, Rooney and Electric Light Orchestra. Over the years they have improved their sound as well as their studio, and most recently released their “Catch A Dream” single in late August 2011. The song is the first single off of their debut full-length LP, “Every Moment of Love,” anticipated for release in 2012. Working on the record, Ruby Roses remains dedicated to delivering the same brand of memorable, melody-driven music that their fans have come to love, while piloting their own spaceship and melting evil space creatures with laser beams.
