Portrait of aPlasticUtopia
Hi, we are 'A Plastic Utopia,' hailing from good 'ol Hudson :) We got started Summer 09, when Sam, Evan and I started playing music together almost daily. We started out doing a lot of covers: Imagine, Stairway to Heaven, Broken, Hero of War, Hallelujah...all of them favorites of ours. At the same time, we were writing our own music, and when we started sharing our ideas, it was magic :) The next step was getting a drummer, and right away, we knew Noam was the way to go. Funnily enough, the hardest thing was finding a name for the band. Eventually, we gave up on being creative and while the boys were warming up, I grabbed a dictionary and wrote down at least 100 random words on pieces of paper and put them in a hat to draw out. We ended up with all sorts of crazy ideas like: "Orange Seamen" and "Purple Latex" but one that we all liked was "A Plastic Utopia." I think it stuck because we could all see the double meaning in it: A Plastic Utopia >>; An artificial ideal world. This reflects the world we live in: it seems to be pretty great, when in reality, it's in shambles.
