Portrait of Nikki Nash
Nikki was born on the southside of Chicago to German Jewish immigrant parents. She was classically trained in piano, voice and music theory from 7 to 11 by Max Krealoff. She started writing songs at 7 and singing for organizations banquet dinners from 9 to 11. By 14 she had an offer from Chess Records and her first folk-rock band. She has won songwriting contests and poetry contests. Her poem I COULD JUST AS EASILY BE A POTATO was included in poetry.com's anthology of poets of the twentieth century. Her cd NIKKI NASH has STICKY CASH went #2 on emusic and stayed in the top ten for 3 months - it's been re-released. Her single ROOM FOR ME went #8 on the INdependent Music Network. The cd was recorded on a double wide off a dirt road in north central nowhere - Bunnell Florida with armadillos, gopher tortoises, snakes, a great blue heron, a barn owl and bluebirds and a red tailed hawk all sharing the property with her and her dogs and cat.....just a mile away from a Dead Lake fish camp with manatees and alligators swimming round and eagles and osprey nesting offshore. She's back in California now with a continuously blooming navel orange tree in the backyard and a mockingbird that sings along with her songs and roosters and a horse two doors down! Country comfort in the city!
