Kiya was born on March 18 and raised in Columbia, SC by a single mother. She was born the eldest of two children and currently attends Richland County School District One schools. She began singing at the young age of six and has performed in several school choirs, church choirs, a local community center, as well as a local Teen Idol competition for the Richland County Library system in Columbia, SC.
Friends and Family has always been important to Kiya, because she has always been close to hers. The love, support, and encouragement that she has received from her friends and family has been a big inspiration to her mentally as well as emotionally as she works toward her dreams and goals of being a professional singer.
As a child and through her teenage years, she dreamed of one day becoming a professional singer. She credits her dreams of becoming a singer to her mother, who filled the house with music through singing Gospel and R & B, and to professional singers such as Alicia Keys, Beyonce’, Amy Lee of Evanescence and Britney Spears, just to name a few.
In 2010 at the age 17, Kiya started working towards her professional singing career. She met two brothers. Ron Jefferson of SlackTraxx Entertainment, Reggie Jefferson of Nine-one six Entertainment Group, and close family friend Tony Eleazer of Twelve-Thirty Records, who instantly took her under their wing to teach her the business. She recorded her first CD at L.A. One recording studios in Stockbridge, GA titled “Living Life”.
