Vocalist/Songwriter Sonny Mac
Brings a Texas Attitude to Contemporary Rhythm and Blues
Sonny Mac has shared the stage with the late blues artist Little Joe Blues. He toured as a Bass player with Icaban’s recording artist Blues Boy Willie playing blues festivals in South Carolina and Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He also shared the stage with a number of artists, including Denise Lasalle, Marvin Sease, and Bobby Rush, just to name a few. He went on to tour a big part of the United States.
In 1996, he moved to Waco, Texas and formed the Sonny Mac Blues Band and he picked his lead guitar back up after years of playing Bass for other artists but originally he was taught to play lead by West Dallas slim at a early age so naturally he picked it back up. They played local and out of town concerts, such as the Marlin blues festival in Marlin, Texas, the Walk for Life benefit for the American Cancer Society, and the Hearts and Barks benefit for the Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels in Clifton, Texas. They also entertained for patrons at the Pillar Bluff Winery in Lampasas, Texas for their wine tasting event. They have performed parties for the soldiers at Ft Hood, Texas and shared the stage with R&B super stars Bobby Blue Bland and Mel Waiters. They have also opened for the popular 80s band R.E.O. Speedwagon at the Hog Creek Icehouse in Speegleville, Texas.
Sonny’s recordings have reached all over the world, even as far away as Switzerland. His original recordings can be found on E-cast and AMI digital jukeboxes throughout the United States. His music can also be purchased on Amazon.com. Sonny has also written a jingle for a popular Waco radio station 99.9 FM that airs daily for the Zack & Jim morning show.
Sonny is accredited as one of the founding members of the Music Association of Central Texas and has served on the board for several years. With three C.D to his credit and currently working on a forth, his band was awarded the “Best Blues Band of the Year” in 2001 and 2004 thru 2008 by the Music Association of Central Texas. The band has also been recognized by the Karem Society of Waco, Texas, the American Cancer Society, and the Third Corps NCO Academy of Fort Hood, Texas.
Sonny Mac has been producing his music under an independent label, but is currently seeking to sign with a major record label.
