Portrait of Luke Dick
So, a "bio," huh? Well, I used to have one I wrote under a pen name. It was pretty good, and I thought it was a believable attempt at feigning another's interpretation of me. But, I'm over that, and I don't intend on getting out a thesaurus to fancy-up my story. The Hollywood highlights are that my mama was a titty dancer, daddy ran off early. Mama kicked her habits and raised me up pretty well. After the hardest of knocks, she eventually found the love of her life and finished high school and some college to find her calling. Tough, tough woman. I'm a mama's boy, through and through. Raised up through some hard times and was the first in my family to complete college. I'm a daddy and a lover firstly; poet, fighter, and songwriter secondly; piddler, forklift driver, teacher, philosopher, carpenter, plumber, and musician thirdly. So, straight up, folks, I love music, and I love it's possibilities. But, I love life more. If I had my choice between reveling in an experience, especially one with the love of my life or my daughter, versus writing a song, I'd choose good loving/living. But, good, rich living makes for good songs, so I'm lucky enough to get it both ways. I was raised in the country, so we'll call my music that. I'm a bit rustic and a bit worldly. I like rednecks, but I'm not one. I like books, but I despise elite wise-asses. I like Lonesome Dove, but I generally don't like TV. I like hard workers and to work hard, but I love leisure just as much. I'm a registered independent and have voted for democrats and republicans alike. Guess you could say I'm a proud flip-flopper. Things simply ain't black and white, and so long as I live, I'm willing to hear and see another side of things. I believe the world would be better if everyone did. Kiss your mama. --Luke Dick
