Distortion began as a home recording project by lead guitarist Chris Barker (CB) and vocalist Jason Hoare. As a duo two demos were recorded between 2004 and 2005. In 2006 the album "Sick in the Head" was completed which was a major step forward technically. It was in 2006 in which the duo decided it was time to take things a step further and formed a full live band. Mike was recruited on drums and brothers Paul and John Mitchell were given the task of Rhythm Axe and bass respectively. Practicing as a band began in the winter of 2006 and the first live peformance was in the spring of 2007. Mike left in the summer and was replaced with Chris Andrews. In 2008 the album entitled 'Cornish Metal' was completed. The ideas for this album were entirely based around Cornish mythology with song titles such as 'The Mermaid of Zennor' and 'Lost Land of Lyonese'.
