From the San Francisco Bay Area comes Don V., a Sicilian American hip hop artist boasting intellect, rhyme skills, swagger and most of all, versatility.
Born in San Francisco and raised five minutes south in the suburbs, Don V. returned to The City for his high school years, where his love of hip hop really began to take form. After being named valedictorian of his senior class, The Don went to UC Berkeley, where he graduated magna cum laude in 3 1/2 years.
It was during his time at Cal that Don V. first picked up a pen and began writing songs. A standout writer and a huge fan of hip hop, rap and R&B, it was only natural that he would begin crafting songs with elements that would appeal to any listener.
After graduating Cal, Don V. first began recording music while living in Oakland and has continued making hitters while living back in his hometown of Pacifica just outside San Francisco.
With his music, Don V. seeks to reach a broad audience while not compromising anything lyrically. He listens to a beat and lets the words fall out the pen naturally, so his songs are truly an expression of his mind’s relation to the instrumental.
Artists that have influenced Don V.: 2Pac, Nas, Rakim, Common, Talib Kweli, Jay Z, Lupe Fiasco, Zion I, Clyde Carson and many others.
