Portrait of Commonwealth
COMMONWEALTH is a Rock and Roll band formed in 2001 by four musicians with a common love for the great music of the 60's and 70's. They composed a variety of original songs which recreate the magic of this golden era. Over the years with various personnel changes, and the latest a new name, with a new attitude, the band continues with its tradition to strive for excellence.

Charlie Gholson has played lead guitar since age 7, growing up with bands in the Nashville area. The Dynamic back beat is created by Jeff Lee who started playing drums at 14 and formed a band named "Jesse Brady " which went on to become a popular rock band based out of Minneapolis, MN in the 70's and early 80's. Jesse Brady recorded a self titled album and toured the upper midwest extensively performing about 250 shows a year in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and the Dakotas. The bottom end is held down by Jerry Longdon, affectionately known to his buddies as 'Hip", hails originally from Pittsburgh, PA, followed by Jacksonville, FL. He has played bass and toured all the Southeast with the "Whiskey River Band", having opened for many big names and 7 years of road, he retired the end of Decenber 1985. On rhythm guitar, and what you would call a synthesized guitar, is Andy Simms, coming from Springhouse, PA and a lot of others in between. As the "old man" in the band by a few months, he started playing keyboards around 1965.

With a combined performing experience of almost 200 years, together they have created the sound that is known as COMMONWEALTH. In November 2006, they completed their original album MIRROR OF YOUR MIND, under the old band name which is melodic, tight and designed to be played loud and live in the great 60's tradition. Love songs, driving old rock that makes you want to get out of your seat, flaming solos and intricate vocal harmonies abound from these four talented players who are dedicated to their craft and will follow their musical career as far as it will go. COMMONWEALTH has no interest in just fitting in. Their intention is to create new music which reminds people of what made rock and roll music what it is today

With 3 lead singers, and all with the ability to harmonize, COMMONWEALTH is a band you can sit back, close your eyes, and remember the days you might have seen the songs played by their original artists (you might find yourself taping your foot, or even singing along). This band goes far beyond the four pieces they are, to create the sound that few other bands have attempted. They take pride in doing songs, others won't. They strive to be the best in what they do, and with a fan club approaching 4000, in Knoxville alone, they are sure to please your audience, no matter what your venue.

COMMONWEALTH is a complete band. They have their own sound system that will serve for outdoor performances in places as large as stadiums and concerts. With their equipment, they can be utilized to also provide the sound if the event features several bands. This along with the stage equipment, is state of the art. They have lighting and stage effects when needed.QUEEM
