Portrait of ROZI

Like the raw material that cheap Reality shows are made of, it was a big crisis that first brought the story of RoZi (Roni Zakay, 1981, TA) to life. Wasted and wounded, with no musical background, pushed only by a strong desire & need, she started writing songs on an old black Russian piano that mysteriously found his way under her untrained fingers. With the influence of electronic musician and deep-dark, self-aware poets she began her studies and the journey that lingers till these moments. Trained in an electronic production school in TA, and by an old-fashioned red haired vocal teacher, she slowly and with determination perfected her instruments. Later she met musician and producer Ron Solomon. His desire for the details and Gothic background found a match, and ever since 'RoZi' is the work of a pair. Living and working in Berlin they formed an international band combining electronics with classic cello hooks & lines, grooving bass and a thick, rich layer of drums and percussion's.

We can name them both Pop, but this story does not continue in the stupidity of the reality shows but in a sincere search in the world of music and imagination.

See you there.

For me, it is very important to STAY ALIVE, not only in the sense of breathing and eating.

When I am writing my songs, Lyrics are crucial to me.

I like it when I have a wonderful pair of words together, that can make me happy. I believe that good music is an innovation.” (Roni Zakay)
