Judge for Maureen Martin

Maureen, born and raised in the Chicago area is actually a big band and showtune singer. She currently has a travelling show in the local area visiting retirement homes and performing for the residence there. Carrying her charm and wit to all who let her in, she never fails to warm your heart and impress. Her connection to Bluegrass is thru her husband. His family is originally from the southern KY area. While visiting his family one year Mareen was inspired to write her very first song, "Silent Mem'ries". She never expected that her musical career would take her to Bluegrass but it just fell to it with some natural force. She hired a bluegrass band in the area and recorded the song. It quickly became a hit in the area and the demand for more drove her to write more songs to complete a small CD. Her style is warm and caring like her personality. Her songs, filled with sincere honesty, relate to family life in the hills and the close bond of love within them. They tell stories of labor and love that move your heart and bring back Mem'ries of those good ole' days.
