“A mellow-smart James Taylor vibe with the poetic soul of a Southernized Bob Dylan.”
Critics have long hailed Ricky Fitzpatrick as "the next James Taylor", with a voice that's "as smooth as moonshine". But fans of artists like John Mayer, Shawn Mullins and even Bob Dylan, John Prine and Tom Waits are also falling in love with what some are calling the next great singer/songwriters. And if the numbers are any indication, then they may just be right.
Myspace recently posted Ricky as one of the Top 10 Folk artists in the US for the state of Georgia, “Emma’s Song” has become a #1 download in the UK and fans are downloading Ricky Fitzpatrick ringtones in record-breaking numbers. “Ballad of Billy the Kid” recently sold over 8,000 ringtones in a single day, making it one of the top five ringtones of all time for Myxer.com, the web’s premier ringtone provider.
Most recently, Ricky has received critical acclaim for his charitable work, as he celebrates the explosive growth of his charitable organization, The Healing Power of Music. HPM, which has already become home to over 200 other artist partners from all over the world, including James Taylor, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, Amos Lee, and Neil Young, organizes and presents free, live music to patients in hospitals and care facilities. Ricky also currently organizes and heads "The Power of a Song" an ongoing compilation CD project that joins the collective talents of some of HPM’s world-class musicians from a wide array of genres and again, from all around the globe. "The Power of a Song" CDs are given as free gifts to patients, wherever an HPM artist performs.
