Portrait of BIG CUTLASS
Cutlass is...

One of New Orleans native sons. The lower ninth ward is a fertile womb of talent. At the corner of Dauphine and Clouet in a three bedroom shotgun house, he was the last of four boys and they named him CUTLASS. In this part of the world he learned the importance of education. Street education as well as formal education shaped his mind and cultivated an up and emerging talent. The early 80's were a difficult time. Music was a strong and reassuring force in the family with four boys. Cutlass... being the youngest, would hear the rhythmic verses of RUN DMC, LL COOL J, and the collective collaborations of BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS. In the beginning there were three and they called themselves "TF CREW"(TERMINATING FORCE). Displaying their fine tuned skills, they won many talent shows and battles with their authentic style of break dancing, rhyming, and beat boxing, "truly they were a force to reckoned with". The eleventh year in the life of Cutlass was the beginning of what would be the eruption of pure lyrical talent. Putting pen to paper, what came forth was the birth of an artist. In his youth he beared witness to many tribulations. A revolving door of personalities coupled with the shattered hopes and dreams of his mother and older brothers. Cutlass... would use the events to breathe life into his words. Adversity was the tool that he would use to make his dreams a reality. Neither famine nor the flood of Katrina in 2005 could wash away the undying spirit that raged within the soul of Cutlass. Life had long ago given him the lesson that home is where your heart dwells. With a hand full of Louisiana soil and hope, he made Houston his home. The womb of the lower ninth ward still gives birth to his current project "ANY GHETTO U.S.A"...Cutlass is destined to rise from the ashes of the ghetto like a phoenix soaring to unimaginable heights. His music is like a beacon of light, guiding the masses by remembering the struggle and reaffirming his unwavering love and dedication to HIP-HOP. Ever promoting positive change in...
