AGGITATED PEARL by Trash
Through great pain, great art is born. Thus can be said of a new sound on the scene, Aggitated Pearl. These guys have seen more than their share of ups and downs and apparently have used their experiences to their advantage. Who are they? …Well, you might recognize them from such bands as Purge, Muppets On Crack, Facelift, Wednesday's Child and The Livid Kittens, but their combination has produced a wonderful stew of what could best be summed up as “Electro Erotic Sex Rock”. Their first performance in more than two years at STAR BAR on April 23 was well received, and featured video projection in addition to visual art and, of course their unique sound. There is nothing on the scene quite like Aggitated Pearl. Dark, sexy rock and roll struck by electro magnetic lightning from Mars.” Erotic dancers have even been seen lurking in the shadows… you never know what will happen next. Aggitated Pearl is comprised of three main staples with are Crux Troy on Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards, Programming and Production and Jeffery Michael Bond Ford Jr III on Vocals and Guitar and LEY 54 on guitar and bass. When performing live and / or in the studio they have a carnival of a rotating line up featuring... Alexis "Sik Basterd" on guitar and bass, Mart Benz on Bass, Sloan on synths, keys and samplers, and Danny Electro and or Sonic 14 on Drums... among others. This is a band in metamorphosis, guitarist Ley54 tells me, “ We are gonna push the envelop… We are in an evolutionary process and what comes through will be different than what we are now…” Sloan chimes in, “...we’re in the evolutionary or was it revolutionary stage of something beautiful…” Well, from what I’ve heard on their "top secret" unreleased as of yet CD, it should be an interesting process to witness… Troy and Jeffery weave their vocals throughout the music professing a confident and somewhat arrogant but lovable sarcasm that they both deliver so well. The first track I heard “Feelin Fine” is one of my favorites so far with hooky lyrics throughout “…You know you’re quite special in my book… you know you are…” is one of the lines that follow me long after listening to the track. “What we are doing is magic designed to hit you and stimulate you on many levels…visual…aural…sensual…” If you are lucky you can catch up with Aggitated Pearl at select locations prior to a International tour. If you want to hear something new, different and exciting, you should be attending the next Aggitated Pearl show. If not… don’t be bitching to us about the same old stuff, we warned you!
