The singer/songwriter/piano virtuoso is a graduate of Florida State University with a B.A. in Commercial Music. She also has piano skills that put other pop performers like Alicia Keys and Vanessa Carlton to shame. Cross began playing piano at the age of six and her musical life took off from there. She sang in chorus and wrote her own songs by the time she was in middle school. She recorded her first album, a collection of pop covers, in high school. Cross recorded two albums worth of material while at FSU as well as two live albums, including her graduation recital. She also performed at Florida’s Big Time Talent Show and won “Best Unsigned Songwriter.” Cross’s most recent musical endeavor is a six-song EP titled Something More. The collection is a strong testament to her natural abilities behind the piano and microphone. The songs flow gracefully from simple melodies to pounding, emotional harmonies. Cross matches the emotions that drive her performances in her lyrics as she sings about relationships (“Every Time,” “Loneliness”) and other life-altering experiences (“Something More”). “I believe music is its own form of friendship, therapy and peace” she says. Amy Cross currently resides in Durham, North Carolina where she is writing/recording her next full-length album.
