Brian Bergeron is an acoustic singer/songwriter based out of Boston. Though he is only twenty-three, he has accomplished much in the Boston music scene. As an independent artist, Bergeron has used the last two years to build his reputation up-and-down the east coast by performing over 200 shows in coffee shops, colleges and clubs. He has generated such a great response that many venues have invited him back to play to steadily growing crowds. As he constantly releases new material, the press is becoming increasingly enamored with his maturity as an artist. Boston's Metronome Magazine raves that "Brian Bergeron is a young musician with a very promising musical career ahead of him. He evokes emotion and passion with every song he performs."
In early 2007, Bergeron's career was put on the fast track with the unveiling of his band, The Late Greats. Brian Bergeron and The Late Greats have a sound that is best described as acoustic-based rock infused with elements of pop, folk and alt-country. They have been most often compared to pre-eminent artists such as Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, David Gray and John Mayer. Their live shows – including performances at Boston's prestigious Paradise Rock Club, Paradise Lounge and Club Passim - put as much stress on the nuances of Bergeron's introspective and calculated songwriting, as on the construction of a groove and feel that captures the listener. This mood has positioned Bergeron to share the stage with many contemporary touring acts such as Matt Nathanson, The Pat McGee Band and Josh Kelley. The band recently rose to the final round of Beanpot Battle of the Bands, which featured Boston's best college bands and garnered a showcase slot in the first ever Verge College Music Conference. Additionally, Bergeron was chosen as a semi-finalist in the third annual Starbucks Music Makers Competition
Bergeron has spent the past summer honing his sound while street performing at Boston's historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace. For around four hours a day, Brian worked on his craft while playing to a fluid audience of tourists from all over the world. He has also been expanding his fan base by moving hundreds of copies of his CDs each month. The seeds continue to be planted for an artist who is growing into one of the most accomplished songwriters in the area.
The rest of the year will see Bergeron promoting his recently finished "The Summer EP," which was recorded and produced by CBS recording artist Will Dailey, and many more shows to come (including an opening slot for Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers at the Paradise Rock Club). There is still much to be seen from this emerging artist.
