He goes by the name Dagga. This up and coming rapper/producer who many has labeled as the next Rodney Jerkins; produces all the tracks and writes most of the lyrics for his Independent label “NVus Music Group” including the tracks from his debut album “A New Beginning” such as “Drop It”, “Hottest Around” and “Show It Off”. Born Andre Leon Dawkins, June 8, 1987 in Silver Spring, Maryland. Dagga grew up with music playing an important roll in his life. Dagga was drawn to the more street style New York’s hip hop culture. His father, a well known disc jockey, gave Dagga the hands on training on the turntables at a very young age. “What begun as something fun to do with my father, turned into a passion and became second nature to me. I would listen to a song, playing on the radio and go to my home made studio and remix it just to play for my friends”. By age twelve, Dagga was selling his own brand of remix cassettes in middle school. Influenced by 70’s soul music and current chart toppers, his touch of producing and putting down the lyrics, has ears buzzing and people talking. In early 2004, Dagga, then with the group "Nvus Squad", released a debut album entitled "Get Loud". This marked the start of his career as a rapper and producer. However, due issues with The Nvus Squad this album was not followed with a second. Dagga released his debut album in 2006 entitled "A New Beginning" the album sold over 5,000 copies and set the stage for numerous inquires such as Ryan Leslie, Raheem Devaughn, Pleasure P and Treysongz Dagga's production history spans several contemporary music genres, including hip hop, R&B, pop, dancehall, and rock. Production credits include Mya, Whitefolks, Topp Doog, Porche 911, The Legue, Main Girl & Karron Johnson of Baltimore which Dagga featured on his hit single “Hickie” He is currently working on a mixtape with Jai Blazin, an upcoming female rapper already known to be the best female rap artist in the DMV
