Damsel was founded by two sisters, Ioanna and Fani Dourakis. From an early age they would listen to a wide range of musical styles which later influenced them to be innovative in their craft and have an appreciation for all types of music. Using their talent and creativity they were able to bring together a mixture of rock, pop, and funk, creating a sound of their own.
Damsel began to hit the streets of NYC to prove that their music was not just a flavor of the day. While playing clubs like CBGB's and The Hard Rock Café, they discovered that they were able to capture the attention of their listening audience with their catchy rock riffs, melodies and grooves that would make you move . Each song has a meaning that tell a story in which we all can relate to.
Damsel's first Ep "Time", received outstanding responses from people everywhere. Time got Damsel a step further with their acceptance to perform at the Millenium Music Conference In PA , Stop the Violence Benefit Concert In Florida and the Budweiser Battle of the Bands at the Hard Rock Café in NYC. Time was also well received in Europe and Asia with various radio stations spinning their tunes and fans ordering their Ep . To date "Time" has independently sold over 2,000 copies through their website, orders and shows. They continued to perform live in Europe, Caribbean as well as America, while writing and recording well over 50 new songs.
Along the way while on tour they attracted a fierce female kickass drummer from Ecuador, (South America) by the name of Paola Viteri. She has been playing drums for over 13 years, and combines her rock, funk and reggae style into the songs. She relocated to New York to perform and study Music at City College.
In 2008 Damsel released their first full length album , which captures the color and magic of their live performances. Each song is solid and memorable with lyrics that are like a story from our lives. You won't want to miss these lovely ladies live!
