About the Artist
International music group Daysahead was recently featured at the 2009 Intwasa Arts Festival in Zimbabwe, Africa. Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, Daysahead was honored to be the only American representative as they performed masterclasses and a concert at the festival.
Daysahead has performed a host of major festivals including the Capital Jazz Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, Capital Jazz Supercruise (Bermuda), NY Harborfest, Bayfest Music Festival, National Black Arts Festival, Capital BBQ Battle Fest, Richmond Fine Arts Music Festival, National Art Gallery “Jazz In the Garden”, Live! On Woodrow Wilson Plaza. The band also performs high profile events including CNN "Black In America" film pre-screening, world-renowned poet/author Maya Angelou's 80th Birthday Party, BMW Product Launch Party, PriceWaterHouse Coopers Client Appreciation Party. Steve & Kim of Daysahead are successful jingle writers as well and their clients have included J. Walter Thompson Ad Agency.
Daysahead has guested with national and international artists including Chaka Khan, George Duke, Al Jarreau, Rachelle Ferrell, Al Green, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark, Victor Wooten, Fourplay, Roy Ayers, Lalah Hathaway, Maysa Leak, Kirk Whalum, Earl Klugh, Gerald Albright, Patti Austin, Michael Franks, Ledisi, The Brand New Heavies, EnVogue, Fertile Ground, Angie Stone.

Formed in 2003, Daysahead was founded by guitarist/producer/songwriter Steve Wright (Richmond, VA) & vocalist/lyricist/songwriter Kim Leachman (Baton Rouge, LA). This dynamic duo has a soulful sound with a jazz-rock mixture, coined as “Jazz-n-Roll” (A Jazz approach to Rock-n-Roll), complemented with heart felt lyrical substance.
Daysahead’s music crosses all ages, genders, and cultures as they’ve attracted a diverse and loyal following of fans from around the world to their music. Whether performing beautiful and energetic acoustic duo sets or even more high energy sets with their quartet, Daysahead’s originals along with their own catchy arrangements of familiar cover tunes make for a very well rounded show. The band covers the listening palate which includes jazz standards, pop, contemporary jazz, and classic rock tunes leaving their audiences satisfied and coming back for more.

Since the release of their debut cd Turning Point, Daysahead has received continual radio play throughout the USA, Europe, and Japan on over 70 terrestrial radio stations and a host of internet radio stations. They were nominated BEST DUO/GROUP of the year for the SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards & nominated BEST BAND and BEST ALBUM of the year for the RockWired Awards. Daysahead's live performances have been featured with encore airings on BET J “Soul Sessions”, and TBS “Soundstage”. Daysahead has also made guest appearances on CBS Network, BRAVO TV, ZBC TV (Zimbabwe).
