Distant Lights

Distant Lights, the 4-piece rock powerhouse out of Austin TX, combines one part science, two parts mesmerizing passion and intensity, and four parts pure virtuosity. Led by one of the best voices and most skilled guitarists in the industry, Distant Lights toes the line between rock and performance art, pop and metal, serenity and storm. On the heels of releasing their 2nd full length album, the band is currently filming a documentary around the writing and recording process of an acoustic EP, and will be supporting Steve Vai this November at House of blues in Dallas.

For 6 years, the band has been crafting and performing their unique brand of aggressively beautiful, and hauntingly intense alternative rock. While being favorably compared to the likes of A Perfect Circle, Radiohead, or Muse they are unquestionably original. A mesmerizing and energetic stage show incorporates lights, live cymatics, and a holographic cellist at times. Touring regularly across the southern region, they've shared the stage with numerous national acts including Hurt, Marcy Playground, Powerman 5000, Eye Empire, Parabelle, Nothing More, Sounds Under Radio, and Saturate. In 2013 Distant Lights was selected to perform at the Dallas International Guitar Festival and have consistently headlined many of the top stages in the region. November 22 2013 Distant Lights will be playing the House of Blues in Dallas with Steve Vai.

The release of their 2nd full length album, "Not Thinking Not Dreaming", in 2013 with Sundance award winning producer, Johnny Marshall, has propelled the band into the national spotlight. This album focuses their musical energy into a commercial modern rock sound, with singles "Tightrope", "Science of it All", and "Defiled". A two and a half year project, the album explores the deep chasm the band was thrown into after the disappearance of their principle investor/mentor, and the long road of recovery through member changes and individual struggles.

Their first album, "Simulacrum", a concept album released in 2008, was featured and added to the playlists of over 200 radio stations nationwide, along with multiple licensing options. After landing a finalist spot in the Hard Rock Battle of the Bands, they went on to win the 2010 Austin Chronicle Sound Wars competition. They've been featured numerous times on Houston's 94.5 Buzz FM showcases, including airplay of the single, "Heart of Fire". They've also graced the Fox Morning news a couple times, Local Licks with Loris Lowe, and had some airplay of "Artifice" on KLBJ 93.7FM.
