"Poor kids from a rich town." Both born and raised in Boulder, CO, formed DJAY&OBLEEK before they even left high school. He grew up roughly in a single parent home, the typical story of a young rapper, unless you hail from the "greenside" of Denver. A gift for graffiti lead to OBleek being the most wanted graff artist with fans and police equally seeking him out. Learning to freestyle at 16 years old saved him from a life rhyming behind bars. OBleek was also known to constantly cause the school staff a headache with sessions between and during classes. With an undefeated record after several years of freestyle battles, OBleek committed to rap as a career. Across town was a very different story, one involving a gifted and classical Susuki piano student who learned to sing at the tender age of 9. DJay grew up in a poor but artistic household where the question of the week would often be, "buy food or music today?" Growing up black in "greenside" has effected her lyrically since she began writing at age 10. Being 1 of 6 blacks in a school of over 2000 wealthy white kids, DJay unleashed her anger in her lyrics with the influence of her new found love of rap. The first time DJay came across OBleek in a freestyle session, they wrote a song and the balance between DJay, the singer and OBleek, the rapper was a perfect fit. Immediately they began to bury themselves in their headphones and basement studio. Throughout the years DJAY&OBLEEK have remained faithful to their craft, ignoring anything adverse to their music. Currently, the two are co-owners of Bust Entertainment and are actively shopping their most recent demo to various record labels. It's female and male, it's black and white, it's the best of both worlds... IT'S DJAY&OBLEEK
