About the Artist
Duwone M. Flowers, also known as DonnDilla Da Great. Grew up in Chicago, Illinois. And found a way to convey a positive self-expression through the negative influences of his life .DonnDilla has been writing and performing in the underground hip-hop world since 1989.With direct influences by Common,DA Smart and later Tech9ne, Which helped DonnDilla create his own niche in music known as Renegade hip hop (CONSCIOUS MUSIC WITH AN ATTITUDE). In the mid 90’s after moving to Kansas DonnDilla was known as D.M.F. (Duwone Maurice Flowers) of the Mobtown Hustla’s, Which fell to the wayside due to false recording and distribution deals.DonnDilla decided to pursue his own goals and began developing himself into a solo artist. For the last few years alot of sweat and tears went into bringing you what he feels is “The Truth” Renegade Hip- Hop. DonnDilla Da Great brings back the Old-School hip-hop sound we all grew up to with his debut album “CONFESSIONS OF A GHETTO PRISONER”Duwone M Flowers Aka DonnDilla, a Lawrence ,Ks veteran hip hop recording
artists teams with two local teenagers, rapper Justin Lindeman and Christian Richardson to launch his new independent recording label Hood Asylum Records Distributor’s .DonnDilla was the founder of W.A.I.T.T Records and member of the Mobtown Hustla’s, a local late 90's Hip Hop group that split after a turbulent short ride thru the underground Music Industry that shouldered the group due different visions or the groups career.
In 2010 DonnDilla teamed with producer Tony Gaines of Legendary Knocks and recorded "Connfessions of a Ghetto Prisoner", which is his solo debut sharing the same release date of May1st 2012 ,with "Thicker Than Thieves”. This album stars DonnDilla and introduces Justin Lindeman aka Duece a 19 year old rapper from Tonganoxie,Ks a small town 6 miles east of Lawrence, Ks .from the age of 10 Duece beginning listening to Tupac ,Lil Wayne, and Tech-Nine. Soon Duece was writing his own raps.introduced to DonnDilla by a potential group member that stop showing up to rehearsals.
Duece and DonnDilla decided to continue anyway. Meanwhile Christian Richardson Aka Southouse a 19 year old producer, who had recently resigned out of college with a promising football career to pursue a music career, put a C D sampler of music he’d made and handed the C D'S out for free .one of those C D's made its way to Duece and two weeks later six of the songs was written by DonnDilla and Duece. Southouse was contacted and a deal was struck for the trio to sign to the in-house Recording Label Hood Asylum Record Distributors.
In honor of the Southouse C D sampler containing 10 songs the Trio's first release posses10 songs, titled "Thicker Than Thieves".
